The society was formed as Grangemouth Horticultural Society in May 1951 and is run by a committee of directors headed by the President, Secretary and Treasurer.
At present we have a small but efficient committee but feel the need to recruit new people to increase numbers and introduce fresh ideas. The requirements of a committee members is to help run three shows which involves five days in the year and help out if available at the plant sale also to attend approximately eight meetings a year. The society has for its objectives the promotion of horticultural in all its branches and certain forms of industrial work including running primary school competitions.
The prime objective of the society is to successfully run three shows per annum. |
Funds |
The running of shows can be expensive, the committee try to keep costs at a minimum and work hard at fund raising. At present our main income for the society is our annual plant sale which takes place in May. Other sources of funds is by donations by businesses and individuals.
For all of our shows admission is free with donations kindly welcome at the door by any visitors. All exhibitors are members of the society with a membership cost of two pounds per annum. At the end of each of our shows the flowers are sold to raise cash for the society. |
